BackHOME Yearning Cover

“Yearning” is the moment the tunnel begins to breathe. Grounded by somber piano chords, the piece moves forward slowly, without any certainty of destination, only the quiet decision to keep going.

The turning point is rhythm, discovered through restraint: drum brushes that don’t “keep time” so much as suggest it like background waves. That subtle pulse reframes the entire piece, turning the stillness of Clear As Night into motion.

Built around collaboration, “Yearning” opens further through harp, recorded by Bridget Jackson and bringing an antidote to the coldness of the previous synth version. Its syncopated shimmer introduces innocence without naïveté: the first real glimpse of hope after prolonged darkness. A children’s choir later lifts the mood into an echo of wonder, a hint of lightness, a reminder that light shines the brightest in contrast to the darkness.

If “Clear As Night” is initiation, “Yearning” is the transformation taking place step by step.
